White Spring Friday

Kat and I spent the car ride to work both glaring and cussing at the snow all around us.

Reading: I’m like a little kid, playing with the food on his plate but not eating it; just can’t get into anything this week. There is a collection of Kafka short stories in my bag that I always manage to not touch.

Planning: Houses of the Blooded tonight and some Sons of Kryos action on Saturday, and that is about it.

Wearing: Clean jeans and a long-sleeve gray t-shirt.

(EDITED IN)Writing: Man, I’ve been so far from the keyboard, I just took this one out of rotation. But I’m leaving it in so that if I write nothing, I have to write, “I wrote nothing,” every week.

And you?

  1. Reading: Getting back into A Feast for Crows. As you know. I’m trying to wrap it up for Bob.

Planning: Probably going to finish up Paranoia Agent this weekend. Maybe Saturday. You gonna be around?

Wearing: Jeans, boots, and a shirt intended for warmer weather.

What happened to writing? Because I’m totally writing a story about aliens and murder.

  4. Reading: In between Storm of Swords and Feast for Crows, I’ve been reading Sandman again.

Planning: Conquering the shit out of China a few more times this weekend, and working on revising the Kingdoms of Novitas Rulebook.

Wearing: The same thing I wear every Friday, jeans and a T-shirt.

  7. Reading: Just finished Ultimate Spiderman’s take on the clone saga.

Planning: day trip this weekend. Budgeting.

Wearing: worn out yellow dress shirt, slacks.

Writing: Sorta some background sci-fi stuff. No idea if a story will come out of the universe building.

  13. WTF, snow?!

Reading: Courbet Reconsidered by Sarah Faunce and Linda Nochlin. It’s for class, but I happen to love it and saw the Courbet retrospective at the MET last weekend. Go 19th-century French art, go!

Planning: More academic reading, because I have been a sick and whiny slouch this week. Also, I plan to eat real food again.

Wearing: 3/4 sleeve grey shirt with slightly twee print and black pants because why not it’s WINTER today.

Writing: A paper for my class on interactive art and how rhetoric can be masked by technology. Referencing Frank Popper, Ian Bogost.

  16. Reading Pandora’s Star by Peter Hamilton. It’s really good hard science. I’m on page 717 of 994. Can’t stop reading.

Planning A few prototypes for card games; finishing the Bacchanal letterpress project (finally!); my independent study project; going to the grocery store; picking my wife and daughter up from the airport.

Wearing GAH! It’s that wine-colored t-shirt and jean combo again! Do I have no other clothes?

Writing A collection of journal entries for my mixed media book project; a simple little card game.

  19. Reading: Fugitives of Chaos, second in a trilogy by John C. Wright. I don’t like the attitudes towards sex or women, but the story is fascinating, and you’d probably like it.

Wearing: Jeans and Pagan Publishing t-shirt

Planning: Job hunting. Meeting and for Ethiopean food and Games Club at Columbia University, and going to a dance in Connecticut with them tomorrow.

Writing: Time to take another crack at the Senses spreadsheet for Dark of the Moon, the larp we’ve been working on for over a decade. A couple of years of serious effort will complete it; but those years aren’t always in one chunk.

  22. Reading: Dark Heresy, the book of Judges (in the Bible, yes)

    Planning: Dancing on Saturday.

Wearing: A light brown turtleneck, black pants, wing-tips.

Writing: Probability-of-success tables for The Cog Wars, trying to get my dice to behave properly.
