I want a Dazzler mini-series. That’s right, Dazzler. It starts with a VH-1-style, Where Are They Now style documentary as she re-visits old haunts and tries to track down the mutants and super-heroes who called Studio 54 their home. The series is told partly in flashbacks as the excesses of the 70’s spill into the present.
Luke Cage in his old yellow silk shirt and a tiara, the Queen of Greenwhich Village, a 7-foot tall transvestite who can deadlift 70+ tons (in heels!) and young Matt Murdock/Tony Stark/Ben Grimm in bell bottoms.

I have every Dazzler issue (I think they ran to 52). Plus the X-Men issues where she first appeared, etc.
I even got excited the other day when I was opening some old Heroclix boosters and got a Dazzler figure in them. :p
Ha ha! I have a bunch of Dazzler comics hidden away in my stash. They are so great. I love her disco ball necklace and rollerskates.
Hee hee. I like the use of these characters to comment on the ’70s when Dazz herself did not appear until 1980 :-). But the idea of a younger Dazzler and all of these characters in younger, in some cases pre-hero mode as a commentary on the ’70s would be sooooo much fun to write! You could start out with a Watchmen-ish plot that devolves into much ado about nothing, much like the ’70s themselves! There’s some great potential for commenting on the history of comics in the second half of the 20th century as well. . . .

The roller skates are really out of control.

The idea is definitely inspired by the scene where Ozymandias is in front of Studio 54 and there’s Bowie and Mick Jagger and the Village People.
But other than that and the use of flashbacks, that is where parallels to the Watchmen would end for me, I think.

I love the idea of her being manufactured by record corporations spilling into the fiction, though.
There’s something magical in this idea. If you ever get to write it, I demand a scene of Warren Worthington and Daimon Hellstrom making out on a couch at a party in Lou Reed’s apartment while Patsy Walker looks on jealously. I mean, we *know* the Defenders was just one big swingers party.
Dazzler is the Spirit of the Glam Party. The spirit drifts from person to person every 10 years or so.
Currently, she is a raver in Miami (or SoCal?), fused with the body of a 19-year-old well meaning college dropout.

I’m just thinking of a way to 2000-ify Dazzler, in a way that doesn’t erase the memory of the early 80s Studio 54 Roller-Disco Dazzler.

Yeah, I am not thinking of doing some sort of parallel, but a merger of pastiche and commentary kinda like Watchmen. I like the idea of a hackneyed comic plot device setting things off, and then having it go weird.
I’d really like to see a Dazzler/Slyde documentary.

While it completely ignores early 80s dazzler, the Dazzler of the Ultimate X-men universe is a different take; a grunge rocker.
