Just watched the first episode and it was alright. My favorite lines being:
“When I told dad I was scared of the thing in my closet, he gave me a .45.”
“Yeah, so?”
“I was nine years old.”
It sure did make me want to play a modern horrorish monster hunting RPG something powerful, though.
EDIT: I was going to do it anyway but yeah, the show pushed me to grab the pre-order of Mortal Coil right the eff now rather than right the eff later.

The first season, beginning to end, is one of the best-structured seasons of television I’ve seen. I really loved it.

It’s a pretty hot show. Doesn’t go too deep through the mushy middle part, which I think is its one consistent failing, but the way they contain each season of the show — the “overstructure”, as it were — is top notch, as is the emergent chemistry and “brotherness” between the leads.
Things I want to see in Supernatural
I want the younger brother to introduce the older brother to an iPod.
I want to know what kind of car that is, even if they make up the make and model. I want that car to become their Millennium Falcon.

Mostly just nodding my head in agreement with everyone. I really enjoyed the first season, and should really watch the second. They had a refreshing take on a lot of paranormal tropes, fairly competent protagonists, and a cool car. Good stuff.

I’ve been wanting to play in a Hunter: the Vigil game based on Supernatural ever since this past summer. WoD’s H:tV does a much better Supernatural game than the official Supernatural RPG.
I had no idea there was an offical RPG.
Ah, same folks who did Serenity?
How was it?
Mechanically: It was a larger skill level = larger dice size.
I found it didn’t scale well – people either failed all the time, or won all the time, with no real sense of drama. Additionally, their hero point system either lets you increase a die size before you roll, or add something (+2? +4? Not sure) after you roll – nobody I was playing with used the increase a die size.
Conceptually, it felt like they’d converted supernatural to their system, rather than vice versa, if that makes any sense.
Mechanically: It was a larger skill level = larger dice size.
I found it didn’t scale well – people either failed all the time, or won all the time, with no real sense of drama. Additionally, their hero point system either lets you increase a die size before you roll, or add something (+2? +4? Not sure) after you roll – nobody I was playing with used the increase a die size.
Conceptually, it felt like they’d converted supernatural to their system, rather than vice versa, if that makes any sense.
