Back to Reading, Writing, Wearing and Planning meme & Witches

Reading: I’m stuck between reads. I’m reading Jack Kirby’s Fourth World Omnibus for some old school comic book action in a nice hard cover format. I’m reading Generation Kill, about an embedded reporter in with the Marine’s First Recon outfit and Homocide, to get my David Simon fix with waiting for the Wire’s next season.

Oh, and made a sprint reading of Houses of the Blooded in order to get ready for tonight’s game.

Writing: School stuff lately.

Wearing: Debatable jeans and a button down shirt that is comfy and warm.

Planning: A trip to my lady-friend’s place on Saturday night and a game tonight.

Also, check out this from Boing Boing:

A Brief History of the Salem Witch Trials

In 1689, English rulers William and Mary started a war with France in the American colonies. Known as King William’s War to colonists, it ravaged regions of upstate New York, Nova Scotia and Quebec, sending refugees into the county of Essex and, specifically, Salem Village in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. (Salem Village is present-day Danvers, Massachusetts; colonial Salem Town became what’s now Salem.)

The displaced people created a strain on Salem’s resources. This aggravated the existing rivalry between families with ties to the wealth of the port of Salem and those who still depended on agriculture. Controversy also brewed over Reverend Samuel Parris, who became Salem Village’s first ordained minister in 1698, and was disliked because of his rigid ways and greedy nature. The Puritan villagers believed all the quarreling was the work of the Devil.

How about you?

  1. Reading: Almost done with “Autumn Nightmares” for Changeling and also rereading “Runes of the Earth” so I’ll be better prepped for “Fatal Revenant”

Writing: Not much lately, except for stuff about the Vegas trip.

Wearing: Work clothes, including my incredibly subdued Hawaiian shirt.

Planning: Accord meeting this weekend and also other activities.

  4. Reading: Keith Johnstone’s Impro. I’m reading that to get a better handle on the issues I have with Know Thyself.

Writing: Lately, I’ve been spending more time editing Tevis’ A Penny For My Thoughts than writing, but I’ve got some notes down for various things.

Wearing: Black, button-down shirt, light grey slacks and some relatively new brown boots.

Planning: Three-day weekend means planning some gaming on Monday. Probably the first Know Thyself playtest since GenCon, and some Mechaton. Also, probably finish up Master Plan #18 by the time the weekend is done.

  7. Reading: Midnight Tides, the fifth book in The Malazan Book of the Fallen. It’s hooked me enough to be the only thing I’ve really picked up for a week or so, and that’s saying something these days.

Writing: Mainly discussion posts for my online classes.

Wearing: Jeans, t-shirt, sweater. Friday’s are casual, and it’s getting cold outside.

Planning: A presentation on RSS for next week and a couple of homework assignments.

  10. Reading: Mm, kind of bouncing around trying to decide between A. Merritt’s _Dwellers in the Mirage_ (a reread), Hal Duncan’s _Vellum_, Garth Nix’s _Sir Thursday_, and Gene Wolfe’s _Pirate Freedom_, as I start reading the Solomon Kane rpg. I’m restless.

Writing: My zine for Alarums and Excursions.

Wearing: Shirt, jeans, light jacket and scarf, as it’s chilly in Lerner Hall of Columbia University.

Planning: Hanging out with tomorrow and making ‘s skype Firefly game using DitV on Sunday. We’re planning flashbacks (as Initiation equivalents) and the first episode. I’ll be stunned if we get past flashbacks in 3 hours for 6 players, but, hey, it could happen.

I missed this meme. Thanks for bringing it back.
