Strixhaven Idea: Debt, Publishing and Perishing

Completing academic coursework is the only way to level up. Adventuring, while maybe necessary to stop *waves vaguely at evil in the world* fucks up your education and your ability to advance.

Better ignore evil and level up because once you are out of school you HAVE to go adventuring to pay off your student loans. The higher level you are when you graduate, the better the treasure on the more dangerous adventures.

Wanna get dark? Better ignore evil and level up while you are in school because once you graduate you HAVE to go adventuring to pay off your student loans. The higher level you are when you graduate, the better the treasure and the better chances are that you will survive.

*hat tip to Trophy Gold*

Wanna level up more after a bit of adventuring? Go to graduate school. More debt.

Got that advanced degree?

The only way to level up is to publish something about the tombs you looted after getting your first degree or the spell you created. Publish or perish while teaching and doing fieldwork (more adventuring) and dammit, is that evil undead overlord still festering out there? If only we had time to stop them with all this work to do.

This idea is too dark to play. Let us forget we were ever here. I can feel my friends in academia giving me dirty looks.

P.S. I don’t own Strixhaven. If someone wants to send me a copy I’ll totally make a cool looking milestone/report card pdf and throw it up on the blog. Once I’m done I’ll give the copy to a local library with a cool D&D program.

These designs and more in my Threadless shop – t-shirts of all kinds, mugs, stickers and even shower curtains…

Dark looks, maybe, but this is brilliant. I would happily play this idea.
